How to Avoid Scorpion Stings
THE BEST WAY to avoid scorpion stings at home is to maintain a effective SCORPION CONTROL service around your home and yard each month!
Bark Scorpions are ABUNDANT throughout the entire Phoenix and Mesa AZ Valley, and commonly invade homes. Use these precautions to help PREVENT scorpion stings!
- When picking things up from the ground carefully look at the UNDERSIDE for scorpions. This is especially important when it comes to landscaping materials, bark, and rocks!
- SHAKE VIGOROUSLY your shoes and clothes before putting them on!
- Crib legs can be placed INSIDE glass mason jars. {Scorpions cannot climb the clean glass to get into the crib.}
- Hang a piece of plastic bigger than the crib or bed, or other material like cardboard, above CRIBS and BEDS. This would act like a shield or second ceiling, and should be parallel with the ceiling so that bark scorpions who love to climb walls, and walk on ceilings, will fall onto your shield above the crib or bed instead of falling into the crib or bed.
- Move beds away from the walls.
- DON’T WALK AROUND BARE FOOT, especially after dark!!
Phoenix AZ Valley is home to the ONLY species of scorpion that is potentially life threatening in the U. S. The Arizona Bark Scorpion. Anyone stung by a scorpion should contact their Doctor for instructions.
