How Termites Get Through A Solid Concrete Foundation
Most newer homes in the Greater Phoenix Valley are built on a solid, one piece concrete foundation, called post tension slab foundations.
When Termites show up inside a home with no signs on the outside, we wonder how Termites get through a solid concrete foundation.
There are only a couple ways termites can get through solid concrete foundations:
1) The very smallest cracks in any concrete will allow Termites to come through. IN fact the Desert Subterranean Termites in the Phoenix Valley only need a hole 1/32″ {1 mm wide} to gain access into a homes structure!
2) Because these termites only require a 1/32″ or {1 mm} sized space to travel through, Subterranean Termites often make their way up around plumbing pipes that come from the ground into the home through a concrete slab foundation.
