During the spring and fall New Termite Queens and Kings {called alates} mate and spread new colonies.
Reproductive termites developed WINGS and emerge from the colony in large SWARMS to find their MATE. As termite Kings and QUEENS pair off, they find a location for their OWN colony, break off their wings and get busy producing offspring.
The Queen Termite is an egg laying MACHINE! She is capable of laying an egg every 3 seconds for 15 years… {That’s 1/4 billion eggs in a lifetime!}
Queen Termites live a very long time {between 25 and 50 YEARS!} As the queen termites dies she stops producing a pheromone that blocks reproductive development in other termites, and a new queen emerges.

- Keep water from accumulating next to the foundation.
- Redirect water AWAY from the home with downspouts, and gutters.
- Keep ANY wood products that contact the ground at least 20 feet away from the house.
- Never let any part of your home contact the soil, this includes porches, trellises, and even wood fences.
- Make sure all trees and bushes are trimmed, and NOT touching the home!
Most buildings in the Phoenix AZ Valley started with a pre-treatment for Subterranean Termites before they were built. Those Termite pre-treats CAN last up to 5 years, and they are warranties for 5 years. Because Termites are so prevalent in our valley, we recommend a Termite INSPECTION before those 5 years are up, and Termite Treatment every 3-5 thereafter.
